The first point of interest in this tour is Alexandria NY where we will board one of Uncle Sam’s Boats for a very short ride to Heart Island to visit Boldt Castle. The castle with 120 rooms on six floors was built by Mr Boldt as a present to his wife. She died as it was nearly finished and he abandon the castle forever. It is being restored and we will take a short boat ride to explore and learn the history of this amazing castle. D

Tuesday May 19

After spending the night at Bonnie Castle Resort, we will board another of Uncle Sam’s Boats for a two and a quarter hour cruise all through the 1000 Islands. We will learn many more interesting facts like what it takes to be an island, the cost of and who owns some of the islands.

After we cross the border into Canada we will make a stop at the 1000 Islands Tower for a great view of the islands. Then we travel to Ottawa where dinner will be included at Montana’s Cookhouse, a uniquely Canadian restaurant. After dinner we will proceed to Gatineau Quebec where we will spend the next three nights at a Ramada Plaza by Wyndham. B, D included

Wednesday May 20

A Rideau Canal Cruise is a must when you visit Ottawa. The cruise includes a live commentary. This boat was built specifically for this tour with comfortable inside seating and lots of windows. From the boat you will enjoy the best view possible of one of the engineering marvels of the nineteenth century, the Rideau Canal. The guide will show you this major part of Canadian history. Along the way, you will be shown many of the homes that have become the embassies of various nations, and learn the fascinating story of the Dutch Embassy. Next we visit the Byward Market, established in 1826, the market is one of Canada’s oldest and largest public markets. The legendary builder of the Rideau Canal, Colonel By, laid out the street plan of the market, designating George and York Streets to be extra wide to accommodate the creation of a public market and gathering place. Within an area roughly four blocks square, you’ll find museums, cafés, specialty food shops, boutiques, galleries, restaurants, pubs, and more! The Byward Market offers a unique experience for all, You will be on your own for lunch in this fascinating market. After lunch you are in for a treat as a step-on-guide will board our coach for a tour around the Nation’s Capital. Tonight we will have dinner in the Buffet des Continents in Gatineau that opened its fourth location in Gatineau Quebec, adding a tropical forest and a suspension bridge to its exotic setting. You will be amazed at this place and the wide variety of food they offer. B, D included

Thursday May 21

Today we are going to visit the beautiful Gatineau Provincial Park in Quebec. It is the home of the 231 acre estate of Canada’s 10th and longest-serving prime minister, William Lyon Mackenzie King. After spending almost 50 years (1903–1950) beautifying and expanding his property, King bequeathed his beloved estate to all Canadians. There are some breathtaking lookouts and views to capture your imagination. A side trip to Wakefield and Chelsea villages will give you a look at life in rural Quebec. Tonight you will really enjoy The Mandarin Restaurant in Ottawa, for a feast fit for royalty. With over 20 locations across Southern Ontario, their award-winning all-you-can-eat buffet offers over 150 delicious dishes showcasing the best in Chinese, Canadian & American fare. Enjoy their extensive soup and salad bars, grill table, prime rib counter, sushi corner, and a variety of hot foods. An array of desserts, an ice cream sundae bar and frozen yogurt station offer the perfect end to the meal, at this fine Canadian establishment. B, D included

Friday May 22

We start our return home, with a stop in the duty free store at the border. Rest and meal stops as needed will be made along the way. B, D included.
