Apr 20 Tue, Kennett Square, Longwood Gardens

Tour # 1628

We have planned this visit to coincide with Senior Days, so when we arrive you will be able to enjoy a day of crafts, demonstrations and concerts.   A tram will transport you between the Visitor Center, the Terrace Restaurant and the Conservatory on Senior Days.

Kennett Square...Welcome to Longwood Gardens, the world's premier horticultural display garden. Purchased by industrialist Pierre S. du Pont in 1906, Longwood offers 1,050 acres of gardens, woodlands, and meadows; 20 outdoor gardens; 20 indoor gardens within 4 acres of heated greenhouses; 11,000 different types of plants; spectacular fountains; and 800 horticultural and performing arts events each year--from flower shows, gardening, demonstrations, concerts, organ and carillon recitals, musical theatre, and fireworks displays. Longwood Gardens is open every day of the year and attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors from all over the world.

There will be demonstrations in the morning, but information is not available yet as to what they will be.  A backstage tour is included with your admission.  Your lunch will also be included.  There will be a concert from 2 to 3 pm (optional, but included) and we will depart at 4pm.  Please note that even though there is a tram available to shuttle you around, this will be a long day of walking and standing.  There are many places to rest however.
